Icebathing Berlin
Breathe. Freeze. Reset.
Turn your monkey brain off. Berlin's ice-bathing & breathwork crew.
* A moderated, positive group: anyone can join and write. Details below.
Why TYMBO
Your head is loud. Your body isn't.
Berlin never switches off, and neither does your brain. Forty-seven tabs, three chats, one deadline.
So we do the simplest thing we know: get cold, breathe slow, sit still. For a little while there's nothing to think about but the next breath. Come as you are.
Six reasons
Why we do this. Why you'll want in.
Cold is honest.
No filter, no feed. Cold water is the one thing in your day that can't be put on silent.
Offline, for once.
For a little while there's nothing to scroll and nothing to answer.
Together beats alone.
It's a lot easier to step into cold water when someone is counting with you.
One slot. Nothing to plan.
Every Sunday, 1 pm. No calendar juggling, no group poll, just show up.
Strangers become your crew.
Same city, same Sunday. Soon you'll be waving to people you didn't know last month.
Start small. Stay curious.
No experience needed. Come as you are and go at your own pace. Thirty seconds count.
Share more. Buy less.
A camera, a power bank, a thermos: you don't have to own it all for one Sunday. Borrow what you need from your neighbours, for example on fainin, where sharing is the new having.
Ad: fainin is run by Fainin GmbH, who also run this project.
How a session works
Show up. Get in. Land softly.
Meet
We gather, warm up, say hi. Everyone starts where they are.
Breathe
Ten minutes of slow breathing, on dry land.
Into the lake
In for as long as feels right. Out whenever. Always.
Warm up
Towel, tea, talk. This is where the crew happens.
Next up
Next sessions.
Heads up: We only recommend jumping in to experienced ice bathers, and only in very mild conditions. New to this? Walk in slowly from the shore.
Every Sunday, 1 pm, at Schlachtensee. Be part of the WhatsApp group.
Details land in the group first. Join in, say hi, come when you're ready, at your own pace.
Join the WhatsApp group** We moderate the WhatsApp group, but we can't be held responsible for everything that gets posted. We're building a positive community: anyone can join on their own and write something to the whole group.
Meet the crew
That's us: Ben and Max.
For the last ten years, Max has been going ice bathing in the Alster again and again. Now he wants to build a community around it, here in Berlin.
Then he ran into Ben at a startup event, and the two got talking about their shared passion for ice bathing. Since then we go together every Sunday at 1 pm, learn a lot about breathwork along the way, and invite everyone to learn with us, at their own pace.

Beginner's guide
Questions you're too cold to ask.
Do I need experience?
No. Start with 30 seconds if you like.
Where do we meet?
At Schlachtensee in Berlin, every Sunday at 1 pm, and we go into the lake. The details for the day land in the WhatsApp group.
What should I bring?
Towel, swimwear, warm layers, a hat and tea.
Do I need to buy gear?
No. One Sunday doesn't need a closet full of gear. What you're missing, you can borrow from people nearby on fainin instead of buying it, and you only pay for the days you need it. Want to film your dip? Cameras like a GoPro are there too, depending on what's offered near you.
Ad: fainin is run by Fainin GmbH, who also run this project.
Is it safe?
Cold water and breathwork aren't for everyone, and we can't promise they're right for you. Go at your own pace, stop whenever you like, and talk to your doctor first if you have any health concerns. See the note below.
Is it a spa thing?
Nope. More cold-water club than candle shop.
Heads up: Cold water and breathwork aren't for everyone. If you have any health concerns (for example heart or circulation conditions, epilepsy or pregnancy) or you're unsure, talk to your doctor before you join. Taking part is voluntary: you decide if, when and for how long, and you take part at your own responsibility. Never do breathwork in or near water. We're a community of friends, not medical professionals, and nothing here is medical advice.
